Ninja Gaiden 3 Easy Patch
« on: Feb 28, 2010, 15:16:31 »
There's a patch for Ninja Gaiden 3 that i found that reduces the damage level's to the japanese version and gives you unlimited contiues, unlike in the US version.
I was wondering:Do you think you could add this hack to the next update for Vnes???

Patch can be found here:

I don't know if Jamie would accept it, but he should.

I remember once being told by Jamie that he's more interested in ROM hacks that actually make a game either more challenging or alters the original game into a new one altogether (like Super Mario Adventure).

It would be interesting to have, just, obviously, not at the expense of the original game (I like rom hacks and quality retakes on older games, but not at the expense of the original said game).

On that same note, a Mario Frustration patch in the hack section would be a fine addition for the group if it was possible, if for nothing else to say it's there and you can masochize (is that even a word?) yourself if you feel the desire to... ;)

Which is exactly why Jamie wouldn't allow it on the main site. :P

The reason Jamie has a Hacks section is to demonstrate some noteworthy hacks (not some retarded Mario frustration hack, pornographic Nazi Mario 3 hack or some cheating hack).

If you feel that the Ninja Gaiden 3 hack is noteworthy, please make your full case (especially considering that there are people who actually have beaten the US version of the game without any special assistance).

Being tasteful in any and all endeavors here naturally being a given (pornographic Mario, uh, you have no argument here as to not having it), this reason sticks out to me the most. If we include an "easy" hack of sorts for Ninja Gaiden 3, then there easily could be an inundation of requests for easy hacks of *notably* Contra, Super C, Double Dragon, Ninja Gaiden 1 *DAMN 6-2*, etc., which nobody I think would want. This might be reason alone to not include such...

However, as being one of those referenced that balks at the use of special assistance, I also realize that most people today seem to not have the patience they once used to *but we'll save that discussion for the Intelligent section*, and maybe some of them would want an easy version of NG3 just to at least have the sense of accomplishment garnered from when they beat it... to some extent... even if it's not the original...

Conclusion: Okay, I'm a bit on the fence, but being if implementation/time/online space-wise are not a factor, then... why else not?

Let me start by saying NG3 is by far the toughest and most frustrating of the NG series (even including the NG1 level 6 nonsense) and IMO the main issue is the limited continues matter which the previous 2 games had unlimited continues. Ive gotten pissed off to no end playing NG3 because of this.

With that said, fuck adding a hack that makes the game easier. Wasnt it a greater accomplishment beating a game that for some time was deemed "impossible"? NG3 is one of them games, and is it a beatable game so why cheat to win? If you REALLY feel the need to, just download the ROM and use save states.
Damn the fuzzies!
